Marle Women: Jess Molina

A couple of weeks ago while in unexpected Level 3 lockdown here in Auckland, I found myself in a creative rut. I had planned a shoot the previous weekend to get all my content for this website’s launch sorted but it was cancelled because of lockdown (which I fully support, by the way. We need to do whatever it takes to eliminate this) so I had to improvise and think about what I can shoot from home instead. And then my camera broke. I realised I had a bunch of other deliverables i needed to shoot too so I cleaned my phone camera lens as much as I could, bribed my brother to take a couple of photos of me.

So I danced in my bedroom on a rainy day at home, wearing a silk skirt and the dreamiest Marle knit (this is the Georgette knit) that they have gifted to me a month ago. I chose it for the sleeves and for its timeless elegance. The kind that works with whatever is in your wardrobe and makes you feel special everytime you put it on.

It’s an incredible honour to be featured as a Marle Woman. I squealed when I saw the email with my name on the subject. They asked some really thoughtful questions and to me, it felt liberating to talk about my immigrant roots, creative upbringing, and how I play Cher’s ‘Believe’ on repeat everyday. Ha! You can read the full interview in their journal here.
