October Wishlist

‘Twas the night before my birthday, when all through the house, one creature was stirring, with a keyboard and a mouse…

OK. So maybe I treat my birthday eve like Christmas Eve. Making a list, checking it twice, drooling over things I want. It’s a tradition that started many years ago back in my old blog. If you go through the yearly October archives, you’ll see an embarrassing progression of my collage skills throughout the years. What started out as a way for me to not so subtly drop hints to my parents of what I want… and leaving it to the very last minute so that I can buy them for myself instead. I used to post the links to these lists on my Facebook and tag my parents. Yeah, so I’m a birthday lover. The one time a year I go full on extra and go hard on celebrating!

Over the years though, this list has grown from just a birthday list to some sort of Spring Wishlist because it’s also that time of the year where there’s a lot of new season launches. So without further ado, here are the things I am definitely obsessing about, dreaming of coveting and wearing and trying. Enjoy!

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Mask - I’ve repurchased a serum from the Estee Lauder ANR range twice now and I really love it. You know how I feel about foil masks! It’s been my signature beauty look for years to the point where I’ve got my own Instagram filter for it now and it’s been used by thousands of people around the world. But I’ve never tried the ANR foil mask! I feel like 2020 is the year this changes…

Saben Frankie in Chalk - I absolutely adore my Saben Frankie bag in black and wore it to the office daily before lockdown 2.0 so when I saw it comes in this lush colour the other day, I swear I’ve never saved anything that fast on Instagram in my life! I have this thing for buying the same thing in different colours and this colour is literally half my wardrobe so I’m taking this as a sign. Not that I needed one anyway!

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille in both the fragrance and candle - My absolute favourite Tom Ford scent! I’ve used the fragrance before and have always wanted to get the candle version of it. It’s absolutely divine! It’s the perfect mix of masculine and feminine and one of the only fragrances that doesn’t give me a headache. Back when going to the office was a thing (can you believe it was only a few months ago?!), I’d visit the Tom Ford counter in Smith and Caughey’s quite a bit and just smell and swatch and look at all the pretty things. I miss that. Get the candle here and the fragrance here.

Gucci Boat Bag from Designer Wardrobe Marketplace - I love a good secondhand vintage find and this one has me feeling a certain way. It’s the monogram, the black and beige palette, and the dainty size for me. My mum would argue that I do not need another bag and to that I say, I’m merely extending its life so it doesn’t go to waste… On that note, I seriously am obsessed with Designer Wardrobe and have been for years. I love browsing through their rentals and marketplace and have bought quite a bit from them. It’s such an easy way to buy secondhand that’s good quality!

Dr Barbara Sturm Skincare - I’ve been quietly making a list of products I want to try after the calming serum and turns out there’s a lot of things that look good from this brand. I definitely fell in love with the packaging when I first saw it in store, but it’s the effectiveness of the product that got me hooked. This is definitely special occasion material. How very convenient that I have a special occasion coming up…

Plants - I’m in the process of refreshing my little granny flat and I want to fill it up with more plants! So make like Kate Hudson from How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days and give me a love fern!

Books - I’ve got a big pile of books to be read and even bigger pile of books I want to buy. I can’t help it! I’m addicted to the written word and the transformative power of books. On my list right now: The Black Kids by Christina Hammonds Reed, Baby, I Don’t Care by Chelsea Minnis, and Breathless by Jennifer Niven.

Boston Suede Birkenstock - I remember my mum being obsessed with Birkenstock when I was growing up. She had this brown pair that she wore everywhere! I’ve always preferred closed toe shoes so when I saw the Boston Suede in Taupe on Instagram a couple of weeks ago, I just knew I had to have it! Birks are super comfy for my wide feet and this literally the perfect style. I might have to try it when I finally leave the house this week when we move to Level 1…

Brie Leon Camille Oily Croc Bone - I’m actually so in love with the iconic handles of this Brie Leon style. I also realised I want a lot of cream/pale coloured bags. I think it’s such a mark of adulthood to have a light coloured bag knowing you can look after it and not spill red wine in it or something. Lol. This is the perfect day/night bag and I know would go with so many of my outfits.

Flowers - Last but definitely not on my list… flowers! Big, beautiful bunches of flowers. It’s all I end up asking for every year because I have more than enough things and really I just wanna be surrounded by people I love, big bunches of my favourite flowers, and a lot of cake.
